Amy and a social worker from India carried out a 6 week pilot of the program in 4 schools in Vizag, Andhra Pradesh from October to December 2022. The results of the program were outstanding and beyond their expectations. They saw positive behavioural changes in the children in this short period of time and were given feedback by teachers that these children were more confident and concentrating better in the classroom. Educators and parents also noticed an increase in their confidence, self-belief and their ability to recognise and manage their emotions and relationships.

About
the Program
The Road to Respect Program
This curriculum has been developed to provide Children and Schools in India with the tools to be able to navigate their emotions & relationships effectively and to embrace their own identity in a society filled with social pressures and gender expectations. The aim is to fill the gaps in the current schooling system so that children will develop a more well-rounded mindset, thereby improving their overall wellbeing and academic outcomes.
Program
Length
-
12 weeks in total with one 45 mins session per week
-
We recommend that this program be provided for grade 3 & grade 8 students, but we are flexible with the grade level and can discuss depending on what best suits your class schedule
-
Teacher's program will be offered free of charge and these sessions will coincide with the school program for a period of 10 weeks (this can be done weekly or as an intensive)
Why this program is different

The Road to Respect Program is a one of a kind program which is tailored specifically to the children in India. It intentionally includes illustrations, scenarios, and examples that are not only age appropriate, but also culturally relevant so that the children can easily relate to and learn the content that is being taught.

The benefits that we have seen to this is:
-
Children are able to connect better to the scenarios which will in turn improve learning outcomes & increase the efficacy of this program overall
-
Children are not taught the mindset that “West is best”. The Road to Respect believes that it is important for Indian children to embrace their culture & to shape healthy beliefs within their own cultural framework

We encourage a multi-dimensional approach to learning and believe that this develops well-rounded children, who are not only academically bright, but also equipped with social and emotional skills necessary for a successful future.
The benefit to your school

We believe that being a part of this pilot program will help your school to be one of the leading educators in your area in terms of social, emotional and academic learning. The world is changing and the pressures surrounding children these days are increasing.
Children who are taught skills in critical thinking, problem solving. coping with stress, recognising and managing their emotions, as well as communication lead to higher academic achievement, better mental health and career success.

Your school will also be offered training and resources for students, educators and the children. Children who participate in the 12 week program will receive a certificate of participation and a special gift at the completion of the course. Schools who participate in the program will also receive a certificate of partnership with The Road to Respect.
